Donald J. Yacks Elementary

History

Welcome to Donald J. Yacks Elementary School, 34700 Union Lake Road, Harrison Township, MI. We are one of ten elementary schools in the L'Anse Creuse Public Schools. Our school district is located in a northeastern suburb of Detroit, adjacent to Lake St. Clair, in one of the fastest growing areas in Macomb County.

In the past seven years, our district has built an elementary and middle school, and begun an extensive renovation program to the nine existing elementary buildings, three middle schools, two high schools, and vocational technical center. 

To support the construction and renovation programs, L'Anse Creuse voters have passed bond issues in 1997, 2000 and 2002. This financial support to accommodate an explosion in population and update existing buildings is not a new event for our district.

Donald J. Yacks Elementary School opened its doors to students in 1977 to provide a larger and updated facility that would accommodate a growing community. Together, our staff and community have built upon the tradition of educational excellence that has been the hallmark of our district for the past 47 years.
